Where can I find the serial number for Account Ability?
The licensing envelope containing your CDROM has a label affixed to it directly above the licensing agreement. This label contains your serial number.
I installed AA2006 Service Pack 1. Why does my system still show version 15.00?
IDMS does not know why this is happening, but, here is the remedy.

a) Browse to the folder where Account Ability is installed.
b) Delete the file AA2006.EXE.
c) Install Service Pack 1 again.
d) When prompted to MODIFY, REPAIR, or REMOVE, select REPAIR.

This should fix the problem and install version 15.00.1
I tried to install Account Ability under Windows XP/NT and received an error similar to '16-bit MS-DOS subsystem error ... file is not suitable ...'. What does this mean and how can I correct it?
This error may occur if one or more of the following files are missing or damaged: config.nt, autoexec.nt, command.com. The error message will generally name the bad file. To remedy this, browse to the \Windows\repair\ folder on your system and copy the named bad file(s) from \Windows\repair\ to the \Windows\System32\ folder. If the \Windows\repair\ folder does not exist on your system, refer to Article ID Q324767 below for instructions on how to repair these files from your Window's XP CDROM. After repairing these files, reset your PC and try installing Account Ability again.

To remedy this, browse to the \Windows\repair\ folder on your system and copy the AUTOEXEC.NT file from \Windows\repair\ to the \Windows\System32\ folder. During installation I get the message "BDE is currently running" and the installation aborts. Why?
Systems experiencing this error generally have an application running in the background that uses the Borland Database Engine (BDE). One such application is TimeKeeper, included with TimeSlips.

Here's a workaround that seems to work well (this workaround requires working with the system registry and should be performed by a system administrator),

(a) From the 'Start' menu select 'Run...'
(b) Enter the command 'REGEDIT'
(c) Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE group
(d) Open the 'Software' group
(e) Open the 'Borland' group
(f) Rename the 'Database Engine' folder to 'Database Engine Old'
(g) Shutdown and restart your computer
(h) Reinstall Account Ability
(i) Shutdown and restart your computer.
Why do I get the message 'Unable to merge configuration file...' during installation?
Your system probably contains an older version of the Borland Database Engine ('BDE'). Systems that experience this error generally have either Corel® Office or Goldmine installed. When the InstallShield wizard attempts to merge a newer version of the BDE, which is included with Account Ability, the merge fails resulting in the error 'unable to merge configuration file...'.
